Sweet cheeks

I think that is the best way to describe this cutie... just look at those cheeks!
We had so much fun just playing at their house (love this shot of the dog licking her nose here!)

and then we went to the park. This little guy adores his grandpa...
and had a great time playing with Mom and Dad too!
Thanks for a wonderful session, guys! I can't wait for you to see the rest of the images. :)

Julie welcomes her new daughter

After rescheduling her induction a couple of times, Julie decided that she couldn't delay the inevitable any longer... and agreed to go into the hospital on the advice of her doctor. She was pretty nervous, and it took nearly all day for labor to finally kick into gear. Finally, at 8pm I got the call that she was 5cm so I headed to the hospital. On the way, I received another call - she was fully dilated and ready to have her baby!! I hightailed it to the hospital and arrived just before the doctor got there, and just in time to watch her baby being born.
She had a wonderful team of family and friends supporting her throughout the labor process...
and of course, the epidural made things a little easier, too!
Finally she was given the go-ahead to push...
And everyone was ready for the baby to arrive!
Another couple of pushes...

and her beautiful daughter was born, perfect and healthy!
Dad got to do the honors of cutting the cord...
and spending a little quality one-on-one time with his beautiful daughter.
(this translates to 7 pounds, 3 ounces)

Why hello, sweet little one!
Her first bath was in the sink of the hospital room...
And it looks like she loved it :)

Congratulations, Julie! She is absolutely beautiful and you did an amazing job!

under the weather

Hey folks... I know I have several previews that are due on the blog, and I am working on them... I've caught some sort of lovely bug that is keeping me in bed, however, and I haven't been able to get to my work. Rest assured, you aren't forgotten! Your photos will be done as soon as I can sit myself at the computer for any length of time. And thanks for your patience.... :)

Maggie welcomes baby number six

I love Maggie. She is an amazing person. Last year I had the honor of photographing her son's birth (you can see images from that birth on my website in my portfolio... click on "birth"), and this year I got to do it all over again when she welcomed her second son (and sixth child!!).

The little guy was quite comfy inside mom... she is pretty sure she was at least 2 weeks past her due date. Fortunately that didn't keep her from smiling...

Maggie's plan was to labor in the tub (like last time) and then deliver on the stool just outside the tub...

Her husband Allen was as supportive as ever, staying by her side throughout labor.
Then when she was fully dilated and it came time to push, the contractions would not stop - and next thing she knew, she was pushing in the water...

And baby Ransom was born.
There was a bit of an audience to welcome the little guy... who was absolutely adorable and squishy!
And once again, their hearts grew as they marveled in their beautiful creation...

The time was just before 3 am... and this little guy was pretty exhausted.

Welcome to the world, little guy!

... and in the end, Maggie was all smiles again. Congratulations Maggie and Allen! And thank you, once again, for letting me be a part of your amazing day.
