A full house!

This week I got to travel to Reno to do a family shoot - FIVE kids! They were all amazingly well behaved and absolutely so much fun. We did these photos at the Arboretum at Rancho San Rafael - what a beautiful place!

I just wanted to share a little preview for the family... :)

I am available for travel to other cities to do your family photographs. Please contact me at 702.219.8166 for more information!

"Hi, Mama!"

This little sweetie was just a joy to photograph. He was absolutely adorable -and stubborn. Usually newborns sleep through their sessions, but not this guy! He was awake the whole time. He didn't want to miss a moment in the spotlight! This is just a little preview for mom and dad - the full session will be up in your gallery this weekend!

Little Miss Sassy Pants

This sweetie gave me a run for my money! She had her own agenda the morning of our session, but we still managed to get some great shots. Here's a sneak peek for Mom & Dad... (the proofs will be online next week!)

Boys & Their Toys

I love photographing Seniors... especially when we can incorporate fun props... like their cars ;)

These guys are two of my new 2008 Models - they just had a session last week, but I wanted to give them a sneak peek of their photos before their entire session went online.

If you are a member of the Class of 2008 and want something a different than the same old senior session everyone else is getting, give me a call. I provide a completely unique experience. For more information, check out my Senior 2008 Website or call 702.219.8166 to book your session.

I am also still looking for models at local high schools, particularly in the Northwest - if you are a Senior at Centennial, Palo Verde, Shadow Ridge, or Arbor View, call or email me - you could end up with a FREE SENIOR PHOTO SESSION!

Brother and Sister

I love family dynamics... and I love capturing the special bond between a brother and a sister. K&K have such a great relationship and were just a joy to photograph!

Storyboards and Collages

Do you have several images from a session that tell a story together? Rather than purchasing them individually, consider one of our custom designed storyboards. My favorite size is 10x20 because it really ends up making a statement. Choose 2-4 of your favorite images, and add the caption of your choice. I will work with you on the design to come up with something that will be cherished for years to come.

Storyboard prices begin at $150 for the 10x20 size. Additional sizes and styles are available! These make wonderful gifts. They all come mounted on a sturdy backer board and are ready to frame. For an additional $50 we will frame it for you in a simple black frame so it is completely ready to hang!

Clients, if you have had a session with me in 2007 and would like to create a storyboard from your images, give me a call and I will happily create one for you! 702.219.8166

And we're baaaaaaaaaack!

Looks like all is well with the proofing galleries again. Whew!

If you need information about the Holiday Limited Edition Sessions, click on the link to the right. I have received a few inquiries about purchasing additional sets of cards for those who are booking the sessions - you can get more sets, in increments of 25, for an additional $75 each (this is 25% off the standard price).

Thanks to those of you who have already contacted me about Holiday Sessions! If you are still deciding when to book, don't wait too long! And, remember - my LAST holiday session day for 2007 (with guaranteed delivery by Christmas) is December 1st.

Technical difficulties

For some reason the client database on my site isn't functioning today... I have a call into tech support with me webhost to get the situation resolved, and hopefully it will be very soon. In the meantime, for clients wanting to log into their galleries, keep checking back and hopefully it will be back up and fully functional by the end of the day. Thanks for your patience and understanding!

Tagged...

I was tagged by fellow photographer Jen, so now it's my turn to share some little-known facts about me!

1. The name "speckledbird" comes from a song by a band called The Choir. I've loved the band since high school and when it came time to choose an email address for myself, all the versions I liked of Jessie Baldwin were taken... so I decided to create a fun name, and chose speckledbird. This was back in 1999 or so, I think... and it's been my identity ever since. It seemed natural, then, to keep the name when I decided to go into business. Of course when I decided to buy my domain name, some spaz out there snapped it up and is trying to sell speckledbird.com for $350. No matter... I like speckledbirdart.com better, anyway ;)

(oh, and I did end up snagging JessieBaldwin.com a couple weeks ago... not sure just yet what I will do with it, but at least it's miiiiiiine... allllll miiiiiiine!)

2. I married my high school sweetheart. Even better than that... I met him at summer camp and we were a long-distance relationship all through high school. We didn't even live in the same state until I went to college! We just celebrated our 12th anniversary and we have two gorgeous children. :)

3. I actually have a list I have compiled called "Things I Want To Do Before I Die." I have all sorts of interesting things on there... like see the Northern Lights, ride a bike in New Zealand, Take a weeklong train trip and sleep in a sleeping car with a fold down bed and everything, Poke a pencil into hot lava on a live volcano (I know this one sounds really weird, but I am dying to know if all the wood will disintegrate leaving just a stick of graphite!), See all 50 US States, and much more.

4. Some of the things I have accomplished on my List include: Travel to Europe, catch a firefly (seriously I just did that last summer. Believe it or not I had never even *seen* a real, live firefly until last summer when we went to Virginia. I could not believe how stinking cool they were!), See a play on Broadway in New York City, work as a TV News Anchor, swim with dolphins, have my work grace the cover of a magazine, and have a home birth (yes, this means without an epidural!).

5. I love to collect birds... but only anatomically incorrect ones. Birds that have detailed wings or feathers or things like that are creepy to me. I like the cartoony, stylized, simplified ones. And of course, if they are speckled - even better! I have bird stationery, ornaments, prints, and jewelry. And speaking of jewelry, my logo was actually created by my sister, Liane. She's a jewelry designer and a few years ago made me a pendant with the bird shape you see on my logo. I loved it so much, I designed my logo image directly from the jewelry she made me.

Alright... that's enough blabbing from me! I am going to do some tagging. Therese, Kimberly, and Ursula... you are up! :)

Mary and Bryan

Just a week after taking these photos, their baby arrived! CONGRATULATIONS, guys!

The newborn shoot is next week... stay tuned for previews of the baby session!
